VICTORVILLE:(VVNG.com)- An early morning crash on Father’s Day Sunday has left nearly 200 people without power.
At about 4:10 a.m., dispatch received a report of a traffic collision of a vehicle into a pole on Hesperia Road between Crestview Drive and City View Drive. For unknown reasons, a minivan collided into a power pole completely shearing it and immediately knocking out power to the surrounding area.
Per scanner traffic, the van was initially reported to be on fire and a female could be heard screaming. When firefighters arrived they determined the fire was coming from an Edison box.
Due to low wires across the roadway a hard road closure was requested. No further details on the collision were available at the time of this report.
Temperatures in the Victor Valley are currently in the triple digits making it difficult for those who are unable to leave their home to stay cool.
According to the Southern California Edison website, 180 customers remain without power as of 4 p.m.
Edison employees are working overtime on this Father’s Day to ensure power is restored by 6:00 p.m. today.
Hesperia Road remains closed in both directions between Green Tree Blvd. and Hughes Road.
