Utility pole damaged in crash prompts closure on Mariposa Road in Victorville

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A busy stretch of Mariposa Road in Victorville has remained closed for several hours after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle traffic collision at about 3:00 pm, in the 13700 block of Mariposa Road, just north of Tamarack Drive.
The driver of the vehicle was uninjured, but officials had to immediately close off the surrounding area due to the damaged pole and the potential threat it posed.
For unknown reasons, the driver of the Dodge SUV lost control and crashed with a wooden utility pole in a dirt shoulder between Mariposa Road and the I-15 freeway.
City of Victorville Public Works employees set up a hard road closure along Mariposa Road between Kingswood Drive and Yates Road. As of 8:30 pm, SCE crews remained at the scene making repairs.
The crash remains under investigation by the Victorville Police Department.
