Urgent Search Underway for Missing Apple Valley Man with Early Signs of Dementia

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — 79-year-old Robert Toomey went missing from his residence in the 13800 block of Choco Road, Apple Valley, California, on Monday, January 22, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m.

Toomey, who is possibly in the early stages of dementia, left in his 2013 gray 4-door Honda Accord with license plate 8UXC266.

The situation took a worrisome turn when, on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at around 2:00 a.m., Toomey was spotted at a gas station in Downey, CA.

Subsequently, his vehicle was captured on camera in Clovis, CA, at 9:46 a.m. Sheriff’s officials said Toomey has a son residing in San Francisco. At the time of his disappearance, he had an unspecified amount of cash and did not have a cell phone or credit cards.

Toomey is described as a White male adult, 5’7” tall, and weighing 150 lbs. He has blue eyes and brown hair, and he was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue shirt, and blue sweatpants.

The Apple Valley Police Department is urging anyone with information about Toomey’s whereabouts to contact Detective K. Riberich at 760-956-5001 or call 9-1-1.
