APPLE VALLEY: (VVNG.com)- At 6:30 a.m. on Sunday November 2nd dispatch received a call reporting an accident in the area of Kiowa Road and Pahute Road. The report indicated that a white 2013 Dodge Dart had hit two parked vehicles also striking a woman who was standing near her Toyota Corolla.
The second vehicle hit, a white Volkswagen Beetle that had no occupants at the time of collision. The woman, that suffered major injuries to her lower extremities, identified as 72-year-old Carol Saar from Apple Valley was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center and was pronounced dead at approximately 9:15 a.m.
The 17-year-old male from Hesperia, who had been driving the white 2013 Dodge Dart was transported by ground ambulance to Victor Valley Global Medical Center, where he was treated and released. The teenager is reported to be in a state of disbelief and having a difficult time coping with the loss of life. “He is physically ok but emotionally he is devastated”, described a family member.
Through investigation it was discovered the 17-year-old male driver was traveling south on Kiowa Road and fell asleep at the wheel. His vehicle crossed into the Northbound lane of Kiowa Road striking two vehicles and the victim, who was standing on the east side of Kiowa Road outside of her vehicle.
