Two Victorville Men Arrested On Felony Weapons Charges During Enforcement Sweep

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Two Victorville men were arrested on felony weapons charges after deputies recovered two illegally possessed firearms during a proactive firearm suppression operation conducted by the Victorville City Gang Impact Team (VCGIT).
The enforcement operation took place on June 12, 2026, between 7:00 p.m. and midnight and focused on identifying individuals unlawfully possessing firearms and reducing violent crime in areas historically impacted by gang activity, weapons offenses, and other criminal conduct.
According to a written statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies conducted multiple traffic enforcement stops, pedestrian contacts, and high-visibility patrols throughout designated high-crime areas in Victorville.
At approximately 7:45 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop near Mojave Drive and Village Drive for vehicle code violations. During the stop, deputies contacted 24-year-old Victorville resident Taronn Scroggins.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of an unregistered .38-caliber revolver. Scroggins was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for a felony violation of Penal Code 25850(a), carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle.
Later that evening, at approximately 11:17 p.m., deputies conducted another traffic stop near El Evado Road and Hook Boulevard for vehicle code violations. During the stop, deputies contacted 42-year-old Victorville resident Marcal Thomas.
Deputies searched the vehicle and recovered a loaded 9mm Polymer 80 handgun, commonly referred to as a “ghost gun” because it did not have a serial number.
According to the written statement, deputies determined Thomas was a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Thomas was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for felony violations of Penal Code 29800(a)(1), felon in possession of a firearm, and Penal Code 30305(a)(1), felon in possession of ammunition.
As a result of the operation, deputies recovered two illegally possessed firearms and arrested two individuals on felony weapons-related charges.
“The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department remains committed to proactively removing illegal firearms from our communities and holding violent offenders accountable,” the department stated in the release.
