VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) – Two medical helicopters landed on Highway 395 on Saturday afternoon to airlift two people critically injured in a crash.
The accident occurred around 3:11 p.m. on February 10, 2024, near the intersection of U.S. Highway 395 and Dos Palmas Road. First responders from the Victorville Fire Department were quick to arrive at the scene of the crash.
A red vehicle with a female occupant, a white Volkswagen Jetta with a male occupant, and a white Toyota sedan were impacted in the incident. The Toyota sustained damage only to the rear bumper, whereas the others suffered significant damage.
Given the severity of the incident, the emergency teams placed an urgent request for aerial support. The two helicopters, Mercy Air 2 and Reach 43 were called in to transport the injured parties to trauma centers.
In addition to the aerial support, law enforcement deputies were requested to manage traffic control. Their immediate task was to shut down the traffic in both the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 395, creating a clear path for the airships to land.
The injured were a male, 50, and a female, 40, as per scanner traffic. The male required extensive extrication. One person was transported to Loma Linda Medical Center and the other person was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
