OAK HILLS:(VVNG.com)- On Sunday, November 1, 2015 at approximately 5:10 A.M., a single story residential structure fire was reported on the 12000 block of Palm Street in Hesperia. Initial reports stated a female was standing outside the burning residence screaming that there were people trapped inside.
Per scanner traffic, a truck pulled up occupied by 4 males, believed to be neighbors and they ran inside the home to check for occupants. San Bernardino County Fire officials said that the first engine arrived within minutes of the call to heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of the single story home. Two residents had safely self evacuated from the home when fire alarms sounded, but there were two family members, one of whom was bedridden still inside the home.
Firefighters went into attack mode and through the primary search they located two elderly individuals that were deceased in the room which the fire originated in. Crews continued the search clearing the home of any other occupants. The fire was under control within about 20 minutes of arrival.
Four paramedic engine companies, one paramedic ambulance, one brush patrol, one battalion chief and one fire investigator for a total of sixteen personnel responded to the fire. There were no other injuries reported as a result of this fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The Red Cross was requested for two displaced adults, the damage of the home is estimated at about $100,000.
