Two Critically Injured in Crash on Kiowa and Rancherias Roads in Apple Valley

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. ( – Two people were critically injured in a crash Sunday night in Apple Valley, prompting a request for two helicopters.

The crash was reported at about 7:12 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the intersection of Kiowa and Rancherias Roads. The crash involved a white KIA Optima and a gray Ford SUV.

Emergency workers with the Apple Valley Fire Protection District arrived on scene and located the critically injured occupants, one of them requiring extrication. A third person sustained less significant injuries.

Two helicopters were requested along with three AMR ambulances. Two of the ambulances will be used to transport the critically injured occupants to a nearby landing zone, where the helicopters will further transport the occupants to trauma centers.

The third person will be taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The Apple Valley Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash, and no further details were immediately available.
