Two Arrested For Cruelty To A Child

On June 28, 2013 at approximately 1:00pm, Deputy Roy Williamson responded to a Child Protective Service Referral in the 9800 block of Elsinore Street in the county area of Hesperia.

According to the caller, a 16 year-old juvenile living at the residence had an injured foot that was infected and the parents refused to get her medical attention. When Deputy Williamson made contact with the juvenile’s parents, Damon Machado and Yvette French, he found food and trash throughout the house and the area of the house where the children slept was in complete squalor. There was very little food in the house for the children to eat.

Deputy Williamson talked with the 16 year-old juvenile and learned she had hurt her foot nearly a year ago. Her foot was completely swollen and discolored and was bleeding. She told Deputy Williamson she had asked her parents repeatedly to take her to the doctor but they refused. Deputy Williamson determined she required immediate medical attention and she was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The other children inside the residence were released into the custody of Child Protective Services.

Daman Machado and Yvette French were booked at the Victor Valley Jail. They are currently being held in lieu of $100,000.00 bail each.
