Two Arrested After Assaulting Victim and Firing Rounds Near Brentwood Park In Victorville

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Two people were arrested Tuesday after deputies linked them to a violent assault and a shooting that unfolded in separate incidents in Victorville, according to a written statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The investigation began on June 30, at approximately 8:31 a.m., when deputies from the Victorville Police Station responded to Brentwood Park following reports of a man with a gun inside a white SUV. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description.

At about 10:09 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 13000 block of Sylvan Oaks Street for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. During the investigation, deputies learned the victim had been riding inside a vehicle occupied by Labrieall McDonald, 34, of Victorville, Christopher Baker, 44, of Twentynine Palms, and two juveniles.

According to the sheriff’s department, an argument broke out inside the vehicle, during which the victim was struck in the head with a firearm and choked by the suspects. The victim was able to exit the vehicle and contact law enforcement. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

At approximately 10:52 a.m., deputies received a ShotSpotter notification reporting three gunshots near Brentwood Park. Deputies contacted several victims who reported that a woman and a man inside a white GMC Acadia fired multiple rounds toward their vehicle. One bullet struck the front passenger door of the victims’ vehicle. No injuries were reported, and the suspects fled before deputies arrived.

Deputies later located the white GMC Acadia at about 11:35 a.m. in the 14000 block of Moon Valley Street, where they conducted a high-risk traffic stop. McDonald and Baker were taken into custody without incident.

Deputies also served a search warrant at a residence in the 14000 block of Moon Valley Street, where they recovered a firearm, according to the written statement.

McDonald and Baker were booked into the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and child abuse likely to produce great bodily injury.
