CAJON PASS, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Fire crews responded to a truck fire on the northbound 15 freeway in the Cajon Pass Monday evening.
At 6:59 pm, dispatch received reports of a commercial truck fire between Oak Hill Road and Highway 138.
Responding units located a 20-foot box truck hauling a trailer carrying birds on the right-hand shoulder, north of the 138. Scanner traffic reported that personnel at the scene were removing the trailer away from the truck.
Firefighters with San Bernardino County Fire arrived and extinguished the fire by 7:17 pm, scanner traffic reported.
According to the California Highway Patrol incident logs, traffic on the no. 4 and no. 5 were temporarily ‘held’ while officials worked to unload the birds and clear the scene.
At this time its unknown if any of the animals were injured and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Motorist traveling through the area are reporting slow moving traffic as a result of the incident.
