Truck Crashes into High Desert Homeless Shelter Building

VICTORVILLE:(VVNG.com)- An off-duty Sheriff’s officer was uninjured after his truck rolled and slammed into the High Desert Homeless Services building on Thursday morning.
The two vehicle crash was reported at about 9:40 a.m. on Thursday, July 14th n the 14000 block of Amargosa Road.
According to San Bernardino County Deputy A. Awad, the Silverado was going northbound on Amargosa Road and the Infiniti was attempting to make a left turn onto southbound Amargosa Road.
The Infinity struck the back of the Silverado causing it to spin out of control and eventually crashing into the building.
James Wilson, was outside the homeless shelter hosting a yard sale when he heard the crash. “I just heard a loud bang and I looked over and saw the vehicle going airborne after it hit the curb, then it rolled and crashed into the homeless shelter building. It was very scary,” stated Wilson.
The female driver of the sedan was transported by ground ambulance to St. Mary’s hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Deputy Awad confirmed the driver of the truck was an off-duty Sheriff’s officer and he was not injured in the crash.
The High Desert Homeless Shelter building sustained minor structure damage including, a broken window, and cracked stucco.
Amargosa Road was closed in both directions between Bonanza and Anacapa Road while authorities investigated and cleared the roadway.
No other injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
