Transient Arrested After Allegedly Brandishing Weapon During Dollar Tree Robbery In Apple Valley

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 41-year-old transient was arrested Wednesday after allegedly brandishing a weapon during a robbery at a Dollar Tree store in Apple Valley.

The incident occurred on Aug. 5, 2026, at about 11:14 a.m., when deputies responded to the business, located at 19201 Bear Valley Road.

According to Taylor Reynolds, public information officer for the Apple Valley Police Department, deputies determined Cassidy Kelsay entered the store, selected merchandise, and attempted to leave without paying.

Reynolds said when confronted by a store employee, Kelsay allegedly brandished a weapon before fleeing the business.

Responding deputies located Kelsay a short distance away and arrested him without incident.

Kelsay was booked at the High Desert Detention Center on suspicion of robbery under California Penal Code 211. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear for arraignment at Victorville Superior Court on Friday, Aug. 7, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. in Department NF.

The investigation is ongoing.
