ADELANTO, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A traffic stop in Adelanto led to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of a stolen vehicle.
It happened on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at 8:44 am, when Deputy K. Kraft ran a license plate on a vehicle at Shell gas station in the 11200 block of Palmdale Road in Adelanto.
The 1997 tan Honda Civic was confirmed stolen out of Chino Hills, officials said.
The deputy made contact with the driver, David Bangs, 35, of Victorville and the passenger, Antoinette Ortiz, 34, also of Victorville, and learned neither had permission to possess the vehicle.
After further investigation, deputies made contact at the residence of Bangs uncle, Phillip Bauer, 36, of Victorville.
“Bauer, who lives in the 8700 block of Olivera Street, was found in possession of a stolen 1999 Honda Civic. The Honda Civic had been stolen from the parking lot of the Victor Valley Mall on October 1, 2018,” stated a sheriff’s news release.
David Bangs, Antoinette Ortiz, and Phillip Bauer were arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center. Ortiz and Bauer are being held in lieu of $50,000.00 bail. Bangs, who was on PRCS release, is being held without bail on a probation hold.
