One Airlifted After a Collision with a Semi

PINON HILLS: (VVNG.com)- A portion of highway 138 is currently shut down due to a traffic collision involving a small SUV and an 18-wheeler carrying 9,000 lbs. of office supplies. The accident occurred near Silver Rock Road just after 11pm on Thursday.
The unidentified occupant inside of the vehicle was trapped and required extrication. An airship (Mercy Air 22) was requested to transport the patient. The landing zone was established at the Stater Brothers shopping center located on Sheep Creek Road. The patient was flown to Antelope Valley Hospital with unknown injuries.
According to CHP incident logs, a 100-gallon fuel tank tore off and approximately 30-50 gallons spilled onto the roadway. Firefighters managed to contain it very quickly. Traffic is being detoured down Beekley Road; the roadway is expected to re-open after the accident has been cleared. Cal-Trans and Hazmat have been requested to assist.
