APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Just on what most would consider the outskirts of town, in the village district of Apple Valley lies a new and exciting project being built.

The project fittingly named “Towns End” is one of a kind and a new business venture for the High Desert.

First and foremost, Town’s End is a distillery for whiskey, bourbon, vodka, and gin. It is also a farm to table restaurant, farmers market, music venue, and community attraction.

Chet Hitt and his wife Rebekah Hitt are the masterminds behind Towns End and have great hopes and enthusiasm for the project.

After the success of his restaurant in Arizona, and a visit to a distillery in Comfort, Texas the idea for Town’s End was born.

“Our goal is to try and make this as community-oriented as we can,” said Chet Hitt. “We would like to revitalize the village.”

In addition to its location in the village, Town’s End is also employing the services of many locals such as their distiller, a retired assistant superintendent, science teacher and principal for Apple Valley High, Dan Leary.

The skills of students in the Apple Valley High School welding program have also been utilized in making custom windows, doors, fences and ornamental fixtures throughout the venue.

The students are able to fulfill hour requirements for their programs while learning hands-on skills. After graduation, some of those same students are now employed by Chet Hitt.

Rebekah Hitt, a retired registered nurse with a background in diabetes education, wanted to bring healthy food options to not just the desert but the restaurant as well.

“I wanted to offer access to healthy and fresh options for the restaurant and market,” said Rebekah Hitt. “With my background in diabetes education it was important to bring healthy  fresh ingredients into this ‘food desert’ we have here.”

As of now, Towns End will be opened in stages, with the first stage being the farmers market set to open Spring 2020. The restaurant and distillery are projected to open Summer 2020.
