Town of Apple Valley Welcomes New Central Road Business

APPLE VALLEY:(VVNG.com): Victor Valley residents are always excited to learn about new developments in their area. When people drove by an Apple Valley location recently they noticed work being done on some large recently vacant metal buildings located at 13584 Central Road.
The Town of Apple Valley officials told Victor Valley News on Monday, that a 38,400 square foot facility on Central Avenue near Powhattan Road is undergoing improvements by the new owners, HD Surplus.
The Town of Apple Valley Public Relations Specialist, Charlene Engeron said that the company is a wholesale retailer that was granted a conditional use permit in 2015. This permit allows the company to revitalize the three industrial buildings in the Village area of Apple Valley.
HD Surplus is currently located in the Industrial area in the City of Adelanto and will be moving to the new Apple Valley location sometime in the summer of 2016.
“We are moving from Adelanto in the industrial area, there is not much traffic there. Once we move to Apple Valley, there is a good chance we will open up a retail portion of the store to the public,” said HD Surplus representative, Octavio Carrasco.
The company specializes in selling products that come from retail store returns and items include gardening products, home furniture, home appliances, car spare parts, toys, professional tools, compressors, shoes, apparel and more. “We handle customer returns, when we receive a truckload we separate and sort out the good items and sell them,” explained Carrasco.
The Town of Apple Valley Economic Development Manager, Orlando Acevedo said that their distribution model includes direct sales to exporters, retail auction, auction houses and e-commerce. Carrasco said that the company calls auctioneers in when they have excess inventory to liquidate and these auctions are open to the public.
“If all goes as planned, we will be ready to open in the next few months. The retail store would come this year also,” added Carrasco. HD Surplus plans on hiring up to ten employees.
