Town of Apple Valley Happy Trails Parade returns to The Village

Apple Valley, CA – September 27, 2019: Floats, marching bands, classic cars and horses will all make their way down Outer Highway 18 on Oct. 5 for one of Apple Valley’s oldest traditions, the Happy Trails Parade.
The procession steps off at 10 a.m. Residents and event patrons can also stop by the Street Fair featuring local retail, food and art vendors during or after the show. The annual event draws hundreds of residents each year to The Village and more than 50 parade entries.
“The Happy Trails Parade and Street Fair is an annual tradition for our Village business district,” said Mayor Larry Cusack. “Each year, The Village Board sponsors the event which brings many high desert residents out for a morning in The Village.”
The Street Fair will provide more opportunities for shoppers or families looking for a quick bite to eat from one of the tasty food trucks.” Shoppers have enjoyed fresh shave ice, barbecue and plenty of retail stores selling art, handbags and soaps at the Street Fair during previous events. The fair is open until 2 p.m. Admission is free for both events.
Parade entries are judged based on originality, use of design and overall impression. Applicants are encouraged to design their entries based on The Village’s old western nostalgia. Top picks in each category will be given awards and recognized at the following Town of Apple Valley Council Meeting. This year’s categories include: Floats, drill/cheer teams, equestrian, wheels and classic cars, and school marching bands.
“The Street Fair portion of the event will feature live music from the local group South of Santa Fe,” said Village Event Coordinator Lovella Sullivan. “We are also excited to share that Apple Valley’s very own, Marcy Taylor, will be our Grand Marshall in the parade. Be sure to get here early as the event draws quite a crowd.”
If you miss getting to the parade in person, a replay of the event will be available subsequently on AVTV.
