Torrance man hospitalized, faces DUI charges after motorycle crash in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif. ( — A motorcyclist was critically injured in what the California Highway Patrol is calling a DUI crash Wednesday evening near Silverwood Lake.

John Martin Anderson, 60, of Torrance, was riding his 2010 Honda 650R motorcycle north on Arrowhead Lake Road, just south of Whitehaven Road, while under the influence, officials said.

The crash was reported at about 8:00 pm, on Wednesday, June 21, 2018, in Hesperia.

“Mr. Anderson left the roadway and struck a guardrail where he received major injuries to his right leg,” stated CHP Officer M. Mumford.

A bystander who stopped to render aid said the rider’s leg was severed and approximately 10 feet away.

Anderson was transported by Mercy Air to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where his condition remains unknown as of Thursday evening.

The collision is still under investigation by the Victorville CHP Office and Mr. Anderson will face charges of driving under the influence, officials said.
