Tom’s Restaurant in Hesperia evacuated after fire on the roof

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — San Bernardino County Firefighters responded to a small fire at Tom’s Restaurant Friday afternoon.

At about 12:45 pm, 911 started to receive multiple reports of smoke coming from the roof Tom’s Famous Family Restaurant in the 16700 block of Bear Valley Road.

Victor Valley News Group member Amber Nicole said she was eating inside and heard a loud explosion noise that sounded off. “We got out right away and the roof was smoking,” stated Nicole.

According to scanner traffic, several employees were on the roof attempting to put the fire out before firefighters arrived.

According to preliminary reports, the fire started inside the hood and duct system with no extension to the roof. The fire caused the restaurant to be filled with smoke and evacuated.

The fire was out by 1:07 pm. No injuries were reported by civilians or firefighters and the official cause of the fire is under investigation.
