Threatening text messages lead to arrest of Victorville woman



PINON HILLS, Calif. ( Melinda Kay Thomas, 36 of Victorville, allegedly parked outside her ex-boyfriend’s home and sent him text messages of a rifle and a gun threatening to kill him.

It happened in the 12900 block of Corton Street in Pinon Hills on Tuesday night at about 9:30 p.m.

Police say Melinda Kay Thomas drove to the victim’s residence in her white Kia Rio and parked outside his home. Thomas continued to send her ex-boyfriend threatening text messages saying she would kill him.

“In the messages, the suspect attached pictures of a rifle and a handgun,” authorities said.

The victim called 911, however, Thomas fled the scene before deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station arrived.

With the assistance of Sheriff’s Aviation Division they located Thomas’s vehicle driving away from the scene.

“Deputies from the Aviation Division observed Thomas throw one of the weapons into the desert area and the other into a dumpster,” officials said.

Deputies initiated a traffic stop on Thomas at the corner of Eaby Road and Phelan Road in Phelan where she was taken into custody without incident.

Deputies returned to the locations where Thomas ditched both weapons and recovered them.

Melinda Kay Thomas, who is a convicted felon, was booked into West Valley Detention Center where she is being held in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.
