HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A power outage has left over thousands of Southern California Edison customers without electricity here Wednesday in Hesperia.
Residents in the area of the portion of Hesperia near the Mesa are reporting power surges, flickering lights, while others are reporting complete outages.
Members in the Victor Valley News Facebook group started to report the outages at about 7:40 pm, on August 15, 2018. The outage area is wide-spread and many homes and businesses are affected.
San Bernardino County Fire spokesman Eric Sherwin said he is not aware of any traffic collisions that involved downed power lines in the area. “There’s a significant lightning storm to the east in Lucerne Valley and that might be affecting our area,” stated Sherwin.
According to the SCE outage map, as of 8:22 pm, a total of 6,577 customers have been impacted by the outage and there is currently no estimated time of when it will be fully restored.
Customers who do not have a surge protector and are experiencing power surges should unplug electrical devices to prevent them from burning out when the spikes in electricity occur.
The official cause for the outages is under investigation. Please check back for updates.
