HESPERIA: (VVNG.com)- The Victor Valley community is grieving over the tragic loss of a young teen who was loved by so many. 16-year-old Andrew Derrill Wilson was a Junior at Canyon Ridge High School and had previously attended Sultana High School. Andrew is described as always having a smile on his face and would always make everyone laugh.
“He was an amazing BMX rider, he was always on his bike and always had a Red Bull. If there was something people were scared to do he’d go and do it,” stated his friend Daniel Sartori.
On October 17, 2014 at about 2:50 p.m., a Ford Bronco with five occupants was involved in a single-vehicle rollover accident along Fuente Street, just north of Muscatel Street, in Hesperia.
Upon arrival, deputies determined that the vehicle was traveling north on Fuente Avenue when for an unknown reason the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled over. The collision caused major damage to the vehicle that came to rest in a vacant lot nearby, according to authorities.
Wilson was in the back seat of the black Ford Bronco and was pronounced deceased at the scene by San Bernardino County Fire Paramedics. The 17-year-old male driver of the Ford and one male passenger were transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where they were treated for their injuries.
Family and friends have planned a candle lighting vigil for Sunday, October 19th at 5:00 p.m., at the site of the crash. The community is invited to come out and show their support by bringing candles to remember a young life lost too soon.
Anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Deputy Kevin McCurdy from the Hesperia Police Department (760) 947-1500.
