On Friday, 10/4/2013 at approximately 11:15am, deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station received a call from a concerned citizen regarding a suspicious vehicle. According to the caller, a male and female had been sitting in the parked vehicle on the 20700 Block of Van Dusen in Apple Valley for approximately 3 to 4 hours and they were not recognized as living in the area.
Deputy Katie Merrill made contact with the occupants Jason Jones, 40, of Apple Valley and Jessica Channell, 22, of Apple Valley, who were both found to be on supervised probation as a result of AB 109 Release.
As part of Governor Jerry Brown’s Realignment Plan, or Assembly Bill 109, to comply with a U.S. Supreme Court decision requiring the state to lower its prison population by 30,000: offenders with non-violent, non-sexual and non serious convictions will serve reduced sentences in county jails and be placed on local supervision through county probation.

During a search of the vehicle, over 12 grams of tar heroin and over 9 grams of methamphetamine were located. Jones and Channell were arrested without incident and are currently being held at the West Valley Detention Center on possession of narcotics for sales.
