Suspects Arrested for Burglary/Conspiracy to Commit a Crime

On March 25, 2014, at approximately 9:30 p.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Station responded to the Food 4 Less, located on the 57000 block of SR62, Yucca Valley for a reported theft by fraud.

Store security personnel observed Torres and Downen steal several items from inside the business.  These items were turned over to Wunderlee who was waiting outside.  Wunderlee brought the items and a false receipt back into the store and attempted to return them for cash.  When store personnel confronted the suspects, they fled the location.  Through investigation, the three suspects were identified as being involved in this crime.

As the investigation continued, deputies identified evidence indicating that some or all of the suspects have committed numerous thefts and returns, as described above, throughout San Bernardino and Riverside Counties over the last several months.  Stores targeted have included Wal-Mart, Food 4 Less, Home Depot, Rite-Aid and Big Lots locations.  Communities where these thefts have occurred include Beaumont, Banning, 29 Palms and Yucca Valley.  Deputies believe these suspects have been involved in thefts and returns amounting to several thousand dollars.

All three suspects were booked into the Morongo Basin Jail on charges of burglary and conspiracy to a crime.
