Suspected “Grinch” on the loose after stealing holiday packages in Victorville

If you recognize this guy call 760-241-2911.

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) – A Victorville couple is warning others about a Christmas Grinch after catching the ‘thief in the act’ on a doorbell security camera.

It happened to Jennifer Gaines and her husband on Tuesday morning in the area of Silica Road and 3rd Avenue in Victorville. At about 9:00 am, Jennifer left home and drove her daughter to school while her husband stayed behind.

While away, Jennifer received a notification from the alarm company alerting her to motion detected at her home.

“When my alarm notified me of motion at the front door, I assumed it was my husband getting the packages. Once I arrived home and verified it wasn’t, I pulled up the video from my alarm system,” said Jennifer.

Jennifer decided to review the surveillance video and was shocked when she saw an unknown man stealing the packages from her porch.

She determined the post office delivered the packages to her front door at 7:13 am. At 8:56 am, a four door sedan stops in front of her driveway, a male exits the driver side and walks towards the front door. The male grabs both packages from the porch before walking back to his vehicle and driving away.

Jennifer says she is angry and feels violated but also nervous and anxious about the whole thing. “This is the very reason that we do not put up Christmas decorations outside,” she said.

Jennifer plans to continue ordering online because its convenient but from now on she will request a signature delivery on all packages.

“Amazon totally took care of the items for us, they are awesome. The best customer service! They reimbursed my husband so he was able to re order the Christmas presents,” stated Jennifer.

If you recognize the person in the video or have information please call contact Deputy V. Ruiz at the Victorville Police Station 760-241-2911 and reference incident # 171714588.
