
HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A 29-year-old Los Angeles man led police on a wild pursuit across two freeways in a stolen vehicle Monday night.
On December 30, 2019, at 10:27 pm, a deputy from the Hesperia Station attempted a traffic stop on a Nissan Sentra that had been reported stolen. The driver of the vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued, officials said.
The pursuit continued onto the southbound I-15, the westbound I-10 and it came to an end at the Peck offramp in El Monte.
During the pursuit Sheriff’s Aviation provided support to the units involved, CHP assisted and El Monte PD assisted when the pursuit ended.
The male suspect, Rene Rangel was the driver of the vehicle. Rangel fled the vehicle at Peck and I-10 and attempted to flee on foot. He was quickly taken into custody by CHP Officers and El Monte PD Officers.
Sheriff’s officials said Rangel was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm. He was also found to be on Felony Probation and was transported and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for Felony Evading and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
According to public arrest records, Rangel is currently being held on a $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on January 3, 2020.
