PHELAN, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Authorities have released new details about a barricade incident reported last week in Phelan, identifying the suspect as 21-year-old Javier Soltero of Fontana, according to a written statement from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The incident happened on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at about 5:24 p.m. in the 3900 block of Harding Road in Phelan. Deputies initially responded to a report of a burglary involving an unknown male inside a home.
According to the Sheriff’s Station, the victim saw the man in her front yard and approached him. The suspect, later identified as Soltero, allegedly grabbed the victim’s cell phone and ran into her residence.
While inside, Soltero armed himself with a BB gun located in the home and fired multiple rounds in the victim’s direction, striking her in the arm.
When deputies arrived, Soltero was still inside the residence. Deputies were able to locate the victim and move her to safety. Officials said Soltero then armed himself with a knife and refused to come out.
The department’s Specialized Enforcement Division responded to the scene, and with their assistance, Soltero eventually exited the home without further incident.
According to authorities, the victim’s family transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Soltero was arrested and transported to the High Desert Detention Center where he was booked on multiple charges, including:
- PC 459: Burglary
- PC 245(a)(1): Assault With a Deadly Weapon
- PC 594(b)(1): Vandalism
