
According to a Sheriffs press release, On September 15, 2013 at 3:58am, Deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station received a request from the San Bernardino County Fire Department to respond to a residence in the 11400 block of Chamberlaine Way in Adelanto. According to fire officials, they were on their way to the residence to assist an assault victim who may have been the victim of a residential robbery.
Through the investigation deputies learned that the female victim was asleep in her bedroom when a black male adult entered the residence through an open window. The suspect hit the victim on the side of the head and raped her. When she started to scream he put a pillow over her face in an attempt to suffocate the victim. She was able to reach up and turn on a light startling the suspect and alerting other family members inside the residence. Prior to leaving, the suspect grabbed the victim’s purse and other personal belongings. He was seen fleeing the residence by several witnesses.
Deputies Justin Mattke and John Hayes were able to locate shoe prints and tracked them to a residence in the 18800 block of Del Mano Ct. in Adelanto. Jermonta Bowers was arrested at the residence without incident for the above charges. Bowers was found in possession of the victims personal belongings along with a bicycle stolen from the front porch of the victim’s neighbor.
