Suspect arrested for Murder

DATE/TIME: May 7, 2013 at approximately 2:28 p.m.
INCIDENT: PC187 Murder
LOCATION: 1500 block of Lillyhill Drive, Needles
VICTIM: Withheld pending notification of next of kin
SUSPECTS: James Cookson, age 76 of Needles
SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, May 7, 2013, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Needles Station, responded to a shots fired call at an apartment complex located within the 1500 block of Lillyhill Drive, Needles.
Upon arrival, deputies made contact with James Cookson. Deputies located the victim inside the residence. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the victim deceased.
Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Detail continued the investigation. As a result of the investigation, James Cookson was arrested for P.C. 187 and was booked at West Valley Jail, where he is being held without bail.
