Suspect arrested after pursuit ends in Hesperia, deputy and suspect treated for injuries

HESPERIA, Calif. ( —  A man attempting to evade deputies was transported to a local hospital after a short pursuit ended in Hesperia Monday night

It happened at about 9:35 p.m. when San Bernardino County Sheriffs Deputy attempted to pull over the 2002 Toyota Highlander that was reported stolen, officials said.

The male suspect driving the vehicle refused to yield to officers attempting a traffic stop and sped away. The pursuit made its way through several residential streets and eventually continued westbound on Main Street where it came to an end after the suspect lost control and crashed at the corner of Escondido Avenue in Hesperia.

Immideately after the crash, the male suspect ran from the vehicle and was quickly apprehended by deputies. A female passenger remained inside the vehicle and was detained for questioning.

Medical Aid was requested for the suspect who sustained a leg injury. He was eventually transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.

A Deputy involved in the foot chase sustained minor cuts and bruises. He was evaluated at the scene and was not transported for treatment.

No other injuries or accidents were reported as a result of the pursuit.
