Local Charter School Launches Improved Programs Under New Direction

Hesperia, CA— (8-28-18) — Summit Leadership Academy- High Desert, welcomes Captain Victor Allende, a 32 year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as its new CEO/Executive Director.

“CPT Allende has already brought in changes to strengthen our academic and leadership programs and the integrity of our school culture. I am very excited about this new school year for both the Jr. High and High School. CPT Allende is building positive teamwork with our staff, teachers and students to accomplish that and even more under his leadership,” said Colleen Kuhn, Board Chairman at Summit Leadership Academy.

CPT Allende Vitae

Captain Allende’s career with the Sheriff’s Department began in 1986. Upon graduation from the Sheriff’s Training Academy as a Deputy Sheriff, he was assigned to multiple units including Lakewood Sheriff’s Station, Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau, Century Sheriff’s Station, and the Recruit Training Bureau. Upon promotion to the position of Sergeant in 2000, Captain Allende was assigned to the Century Regional Detention Facility, Compton Station, and to the Emergency Operations Bureau Intelligence Section.

In 2004, Captain Allende continued with his career as a Lieutenant and was assigned to Custody Division working all facets including Executive Assistant. Captain Allende completed the final three years of his career working in the capacity of Captain and assumed responsibility for providing educational opportunities for a complex inmate population consisting of over 16,000 inmates.

Throughout his career, Captain Allende earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration from California State University, Long Beach. Additionally, he lectured as an Adjunct Professor at Mt. San Antonio College, teaching Forensics, Principles of the Justice System, and Concepts of the Criminal Justice System.

Captain Allende resides in San Bernardino County with his wife of 28 years, English Professor Kristina Allende. He has a daughter who recently completed law school, a son who is a former United States Marine Corp Staff Sergeant and a current Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff, and five grandchildren.

Positive Student Impact

Staff, students and parents are already participating in and pleased with the School’s revamped programs. Summit Leadership Academy is a public charter high school serving students in 7th – 12th grade. Current offerings include tuition-free education with courses specializing in public service careers including military service, law enforcement, and firefighting. With small classroom sizes boasting an average of 25 students per class, students receive personalized instruction.

Summit Leadership Academy offers a leadership program to all students that equips them with the skills necessary to operate in a leadership role successfully and with integrity. Community service, rigorous academics, strong values, and physical health make up the core components of Summit Leadership Academy’s heart, mind, body, and soul philosophy.
