PHELAN-(VVNG.com): The owner of Mills True Value located on the 3000 block of Phelan road is reaching out to the public asking for help to identify a man that stole from his store on Monday.
Store employees said that they had seen this man in the store before and items have also gone missing in the past. Owners Dane and Jeanna Mills think that this may not be the first time this man has stolen from their store.
On February 1st at around 6:37 p.m. a White male adult entered the store, he did not speak to the two employees upon entering. “The person in the video didn’t speak to anyone and was only in the store a short time,” said store owner, Dane Mills.
He said that upon entering the store, he went straight to the power tool section of the store, took a Skill saw that has a retail value of $199.99 off of the shelf. He took it out of the box and placed it inside his coat. He walked around the back of the store.
“During this time he also took a Stihl chainsaw off the shelf but for whatever reason he left it on another aisle, which is where we found it. He then waited until the clerk was helping a customer near the register and quickly went out the front door with this skill saw under his coat,” said Mills.
Mills said that they have noticed things missing over the past several months and have built cages to protect frequently stolen items. They also have had to use cables to secure the power tools to the display.
A police report was made to deputies from the Victor Valley Station, and they obtained the video surveillance as well as the still images. If anyone has any information you are asked to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Victor Valley Station at (760) 956-5001.
