VICTORVILLE, CA: On Friday, May 31, 2019, at approximately 8:27 a.m., an inmate physically assaulted a staff member at the Federal Correctional Institution I (FCI I) in Victorville.
Staff immediately responded and secured the area. One other staff member received minor injuries responding to the incident. Both staff members were medically assessed and treated at the institution and required no outside medical attention.
The inmates were secured in their housing units and the institution was placed on a limited operational status until further notice. The Federal Bureau of Investigation was notified. No inmates were injured during the incident, and at no time was the public in danger.
FCI I is a medium security facility that currently houses 1,383 male offenders in Victorville, California.
