SR 138 in the Cajon Pass is closed to SR 173 due to flooding for an unknown duration

CAJON PASS, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Eastbound State Route 138 in the Cajon Pass is closed in both directions going towards State Route 173 in Lake Arrowhead.

Caltrans District 8 officials said SR-138 from Wagon Train Road to State Route 173 will be closed in both directions due to flooding in the roadway and the duration of the closure is currently unknown.

At about noon CHP received reports that Summit Valley Road, north of Manasrah Road was flooding. Per CHP logs, 12-inch deep standing water was affecting the northbound lanes.

At about 8 am, only 4×4 vehicles were being allowed to travel on the roadway, however, weather conditions quickly became even worse, and 30 minutes later the decision was made to no longer allow any vehicles.

Additionally, traffic on the I-15 freeway continues to remain gridlocked from Victorville down to the Cajon Pass as it’s been since the early morning hours.

Emergency lane closures on both the north and south I-15 between Ranchero Road and Main Street resulted in a significant slowdown for people on the freeway.

At this time, there is no indication of when the highway will reopen. Motorists are being advised to make alternate plans.
