Spring Valley Lake Lions Club Awards Scholarship to Student Speaker Winner

SPRING VALLEY LAKE, Calif. ( – The Spring Valley Lake Lions Club held its 2024 Student Speaker Contest on Monday, February 19, 2024.  The 2024 topic was “FOR A BETTER WORLD, WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE?”

The Spring Valley Lake Lions Club awarded Ward Halwani, who attends The Academy for Academic Research 1st place for his speech on Monday. 

The Spring Valley Lake Lions Club expressed its gratitude to the Sterling Inn in Victorville for their hospitality in hosting this year’s student speech competition.

“We are thrilled that Ward received first place,” said Lisa Lamb, President and CEO of the Academy for Academic Excellence, a Lewis Center School. “He is an exceptional student who will undoubtedly make a positive impact in the world!”

The Lions Club annual student speaker contest is a six-level Statewide contest that begins with a contest sponsored by local clubs. The final contest will be held in Sacramento, California in June 2024.

“We had some really competitive speakers once again this year,” said Bo Goulet, chairman of the Spring Valley Lake Lions Club Student Speaker Contest. “I am all very proud of each and every one of our competitors who all gave excellent persuasive speeches.”

At each level of the contest, the winner is awarded monetary and scholarship prizes starting at $100 at the entry-level to a $10,000 scholarship for the final winner. The winner of the final contest will have been awarded approximately $21,000 in monetary and scholarship awards.
