Sponsors and volunteers sought for Victorville community cleanup day Oct 19

VICTORVILLE, Calif. — The City of Victorville is now seeking volunteers and sponsors for the next Victorville Community Cleanup Day scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19.
Community Cleanup Day sponsors are listed on the event t-shirt worn by hundreds of volunteers. In addition, sponsors are acknowledged on fliers and the City’s website and social media. Volunteers receive a free t-shirt and discount coupons for lunch at participating Victorville restaurants.
On-line registration for volunteers is available through the City of Victorville website atwww.VictorvilleCa.Gov/CCU. Paper copies of the registration form are available at Victorville City Hall, 14343 Civic Dr. or can be requested by calling (760) 955-8615. City Hall is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individuals or groups interested in volunteering need to sign up by Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. to receive a t-shirt.
Individuals are encouraged to join with friends, family, and community groups to create teams to participate. The event is open to all High Desert residents. Businesses, schools, and churches are also encouraged to create teams to participate.
The Victorville Community Cleanup Day is a semi-annual event held each April and October. The first event was held in October 2007. Since then, more than 16,000 volunteers have worked together to collect over 193 tons of litter from Victorville roadsides. In April 2019, 830 volunteers from 53 different organizations collected 6.19 tons of litter from 35 different sites around the City.
