Southwest Gas Volunteers Pack 1,000 Care Kits In Victorville For Unhoused Residents, Teens
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Southwest Gas employee volunteers and their family members joined the Family Assistance Program in Victorville on Saturday to assemble 1,000 care kits for unhoused individuals and teens as part of the Southwest Gas Foundation’s 60th Anniversary Month of Giving.
The care kit packing event was one of six volunteer projects taking place across Arizona, Nevada and California throughout June. According to a written statement, the Southwest Gas Foundation is supporting the effort with a $60,000 donation, with employees across the company’s service territory expected to assemble a total of 6,000 care kits through BLUE, Southwest Gas’ employee volunteer program.
The kits assembled in Victorville included personal hygiene essentials such as a toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, socks, washcloth, hairbrush, lotion, shampoo, conditioner and feminine hygiene products. According to the company, the kits will be distributed to unhoused individuals in the Victorville community through the Family Assistance Program.
Some will also go to teens who will be living in the Family Assistance Program’s new Tiny Home Village, which is currently under construction.

“When you see our employees and their families show up to serve, it really brings our Foundation’s 60-year legacy to life,” said Sam Grandlienard, Southwest Gas Southern California Division vice president. “We are grateful for the partnerships we’ve built with organizations like the Family Assistance Program, because they’re making a real impact in people’s lives. That kind of collaboration is how we support our neighbors and build stronger communities.”
The event also highlighted Southwest Gas’ ongoing partnership with the Family Assistance Program. According to the written statement, Southwest Gas and the Southwest Gas Foundation have supported the organization through volunteer efforts and philanthropy aimed at providing critical support services in the community.

“Events like this demonstrate the impact that can be made when organizations, volunteers, and community partners come together around a shared purpose,” said Jobi Wood, Family Assistance Program director of youth services, FAMSPOT, and Youth Drop-in Center. “The support of Southwest Gas and the Southwest Gas Foundation helps us extend our reach and better serve individuals facing difficult circumstances. We are grateful for their continued commitment to strengthening our community and supporting those who need it most.”
Southwest Gas said the Month of Giving campaign honors the foundation’s 60 years of community support while expanding outreach efforts in the communities it serves. More information about the Southwest Gas Foundation is available at www.swgas.com/community.
