Snowline Joint Unified School District Celebrates Alumni Maddie Mastro on Historic Third Olympic Selection

PHELAN, CA — Snowline Joint Unified School District (Snowline JUSD) is honored to announce that Wrightwood Elementary School alumni Maddie Mastro has officially been named to her third consecutive U.S. Olympic Snowboarding Team.
Mastro, a standout athlete who began her journey as a Wrightwood Raccoon, has become one of the most decorated and influential figures in women’s snowboarding. As she prepares to compete on the world stage for a third time, the Snowline community is reflecting on her incredible trajectory from a local student-athlete to a global icon.
“Maddie’s journey is a powerful testament to our mission to Educate, Inspire, and Prepare,” said Robert Chacon, Snowline PIO. “She took the foundation built right here at Wrightwood Elementary and throughout our district and has turned it into a career defined by excellence, grit, and history-making achievements.”
Mastro’s career highlights include:
- Three-Time Olympian: Representing Team USA at the highest level of international competition (2018, 2022, and 2026).
- Trailblazer: Becoming the first woman to ever land a “double crippler” in halfpipe competition.
- Elite Competitor: Multiple X Games medals and a US Open Championship.
In celebration of her “three-peat” Olympic selection, the District is highlighting a foundational moment in her career: a 2018 interview between Mastro and Snowline Superintendent Dr. Ryan Holman. Recorded just weeks before her first Olympic trip to PyeongChang, the interview showcases a young athlete’s dedication to her craft and her deep roots within the Wrightwood community.
“Watching Maddie’s growth from that first interview in 2018 to where she is today inspires our entire student body,” the District added. “She proves that with hard work and community support, there are no limits to what our students can achieve.”
Snowline JUSD invites the community to join in wishing Maddie Mastro the best of luck as she represents the United States—and her hometown of Wrightwood—at the upcoming Winter Games.
