Silver Fire 13 Acres, 60% Contained; Silverwood Lake Open

SILVERWOOD LAKE, Calif. (VVNG.com) The Silver Fire burning in Silverwood Lake is now at 60% containment, officials said.

The fire was started by a vehicle fire that quickly spread to vegetation along Highway 138 on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at 1:13 pm.

The fire was dubbed the Silver Fire and prompted evacuations of the entire lake. Along with a full closure of Highway 138 between the State Park and Highway 173.

Fire crews along with the assistance of water dropping helicopters and made great progress in slowing down the fire.

Evacuations at the lake and camping areas were lifted a couple of hours later. Allowing the State Park to reopen to the public.

As of 12:00 pm., Wednesday, the fire has been accurately mapped at 13 acres and is 60% contained.

Fire crews will continue to remain committed to the burn area as they conduct clean up.
