Pedestrian struck and killed by RV on 15 freeway ID’d as 40-year-old man

UPDATE 9/23 @ 7:30 PM – The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased pedestrian as Charles Jackson III, 40, a resident of Diamond Bar.

According to the coroner’s office, Charles purposely ran into traffic on southbound Interstate 15 at Sierra Avenue in Fontana and was struck by two vehicles. Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Rancho Cucamonga CHP is investigating the collision.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Officials have issued a Sig-Alert after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a motorhome on the southbound I-15 freeway near Sierra Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol incident logs, on Sunday, September 23, 2018, at about 9:26 am, dispatch received reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian.

Per the logs, the pedestrian was standing near the bridge and as a motorhome passed, the pedestrian ran in front of the RV and was struck. The pedestrian was hit several times and his body remained in the middle lanes of traffic.

All lanes of traffic are currently closed except for the no. 1 lane prompting a Sig-Alert to be issued at 9:42 am, for an unknown duration.

The coroner has already been requested to respond to the scene and will remove the body.
