Shoemaker Fire Burning Above Glendora

GLENDORA:(VVNG.com)- In the afternoon of August 14th, approximately 1:20 p.m., witnesses noticed smoke coming from what appeared to be the Azusa Canyon area in the mountains overlooking the city of Glendora. The rapid moving blaze quickly burned approximately 75 acres of steep and rugged terrain as of 2:30 p.m.

fire mapAuthorities have closed Glendora Mountain Road and Highway 39/San Gabriel Canyon Road, due to the burning near Shoemaker Canyon in the Angeles National Forest. Residents will be allowed in with identification.

U.S Forest Service and La County firefighters are aggressively fighting this fire by facilitating 10 Engines, 1 handcrew, 2 helicopters, and 1 air-tanker. At this time there are no structures threatened, but authorities express that additional road closures and possible evacuations may soon become inevitable due to the rapid growth of this brush fire.

Victor Valley News Group Members who live in Pinon Hills have reported drift smoke in the area.
