HELENDALE, Calif. (VVNG.com) —An armed barricade situation near the community of Helendale prompted a large law enforcement and SWAT response on Tuesday, temporarily shutting down Shadow Mountain Road near Highway 395.
The incident began on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at about 11:24 a.m. in the area of Shadow Mountain Road near Rolling Ridge Lane.
According to information initially provided by Gloria Orejel, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a disturbance involving an armed individual refusing to exit a residence.
“Through investigation, they learned an armed male subject at the location was making threats and is refusing to exit the home. Our Specialized Enforcement Division is also on scene and the incident is ongoing,” Orejel said during the active response.
Shortly after 6:00 p.m., authorities confirmed the subject had been safely taken into custody and the roadway had reopened.
Additional details released later identified the suspect as Bryan Estrada, 28. Investigators said Estrada was involved in an argument with a family member when he fired a rifle into the air and threatened to kill the victim.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division (SWAT) responded to the scene, and Estrada ultimately surrendered without further incident.
Following his arrest, a search warrant was served at the home, and deputies recovered two firearms. No injuries were reported.
Further information, including charges and booking details, were not immediately available.
