BIG BEAR LAKE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Jackie and Shadow are now the proud parents of two eaglets after the second chick officially hatched Easter Sunday morning, April 5, 2026, according to Friends of Big Bear Valley and the Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam.
“And Chick Makes Two…” the organization announced in a Facebook post.
“This morning April 5th chick 2 made is final scoot out of the eggshell and was considered fully hatched at 8:30:45 cam time,” the post stated.
The milestone came as the first eaglet was already beginning to feed. “Chick 1 was getting its first successful feeding at that time,” according to the post, noting that early feedings can be difficult. “Initial feedings are often challenging as the chicks do not have much muscle strength in their necks. At this stage they are often called bobbleheads!”

Caretakers explained that the chicks are fed small portions of fish or other prey, while also receiving additional nourishment from their parents. “You can also see Jackie salivating quite a bit. The parents’ saliva is full of electrolytes and antibodies which gives the little ones a good healthy start!”
Shadow arrived shortly after the second hatch and was able to see both eaglets for the first time. “He seemed quite proud and didn’t waste any time snuggling in for daddy duty,” the post stated.
Both eaglets are reported to be healthy as they begin their early development.
“Both chicks are doing well, looking great and their journey has just begun… Congratulations on your 2 beautiful fluff balls, Jackie & Shadow!” the Friends of Big Bear Valley team added.
