VICTORVILLE, Calif. (VVNG.com) — A man and woman threatened a loss prevention officer with a knife after attempting to steal a backpack filled with merchandise from Sears, officials said.

It happened at about 2:47 pm on December 30, 2019, on the 14400 block of Bear Valley Road inside the Mall of Victor Valley.

Deputies responded to the report of a robbery at the Sears and were advised by the reporting party, the loss prevention agent, that a male and female entered the Sears store and began grabbing various merchandise.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Jodi Miller said they grabbed a red backpack and filled it with the merchandise.

“When they exited the store, without paying for the merchandise, they were confronted by the loss prevention agent. The male suspect brandished a knife and the loss prevention agent backed up to a safe distance. The couple dropped the backpack and fled the location in a vehicle,” stated Miller.

The suspects have not been identified and remain outstanding. The loss prevention agent was not injured during the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Victorville Police Department at 760-241-2911.
