
SILVER LAKES, Calif. (VVNG.com) The search for a missing man last seen in the waters of Silver Lakes continues Sunday morning.
The incident was first reported just after 7:30 pm, on Saturday, July 1, 2017, in the area known as North Beach, in the community of Helendale.
According to officials, the man jumped from a moving boat into the water and did not resurface.
The man was described as a White male adult last seen wearing blue board shorts and no shirt.
Helicopters, deputies, fire personnel, and residents immediately started to help by actively searching the lake.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Dive Team responded at about 10pm and entered the waters.
As of 8am Sunday, the unidentified man is still missing and search operations have resumed.
Many families were in the area prior to the incident as they prepared to watch the annual fireworks show put on by the association. The show went on as scheduled.
Helendale or Silver Lakes is an unincorporated community located on historic Route 66 between Barstow and Victorville. In 1969, Construction began on two manmade lakes, North Lake and South Lake, covering approximately 277 acres, according to Wikipedia.
