Sarah Allsman from Cedar Middle School Recognized as Teacher of the Month

HESPERIA – Assemblyman Jay Obernolte (R-Hesperia) has honored Sarah Allsman from Cedar Middle School as the Outstanding Teacher of the Month for the 33rdAssembly District.

Sarah Allsman has taught Language Arts at Cedar Middle School in Hesperia for the last 13 years. Besides being an excellent and dedicated teacher, she encourages her students to give back to their community. She has created a positive and impactful way for her students to get involved by honoring our local veterans.

Every year, Ms. Allsman has her students write letters to veterans thanking them for their dedication and service to our country. The students hand these letters out to veterans throughout our High Desert community, collaborating with local non-profits as well as the Barstow Veterans Home. Many of her students have also participated in the annual Veterans Day Ceremony at Hesperia Lake and have hosted a dinner for veterans employed by Hesperia Unified School District.

“Sarah not only has a clear passion for education, but I am also impressed with her commitment to teaching her students the importance of community service. I am proud of the way she encourages her students to participate in various veterans’ events and teaches them the importance of honoring the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country,” Assemblyman Obernolte said. “Through her deep appreciation for our veterans, she clearly sets a great example for her students to follow. It is my honor to recognize Sarah Allsman as Outstanding Teacher for the Month of February.”
