San Bernardino County Library to Host Galaxy Nights: Wildlife After Dark on Aug. 15 in Lucerne Valley

LUCERNE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) — The San Bernardino County Library will host Galaxy Nights: Wildlife After Dark, a free educational event featuring live animal presentations, constellation viewing and interactive activities.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15, at 6 p.m. at the Lucerne Valley Janice Horst Branch Library, according to a written statement from the San Bernardino County Library.
The one-night event will combine astronomy and wildlife education through live encounters with several animal ambassadors, including a Eurasian eagle-owl, blue-tongued skink, tarantula and kingsnake.
Guests will learn about the animals’ adaptations, behaviors and roles in the natural world through interactive presentations.
Following the animal program, attendees will have an opportunity to observe constellations connected to wildlife, including Ursa Major, representing the bear; Lacerta, representing the lizard; and Aquila, representing the eagle.
The program is intended to show how animals have influenced celestial legends and constellations for centuries.
San Bernardino County Regional Parks will also operate educational stations featuring hands-on activities focused on wildlife, conservation and the natural environment.
“This is not your typical evening program,” Library Events Coordinator Jenni McCormick said. “Galaxy Nights: Wildlife After Dark brings together two worlds that captivate people of all ages—the wonders of the cosmos and the incredible diversity of wildlife. It’s an experience designed to inspire exploration, learning and a sense of awe.”
Local vendors Brew and Moo Coffee, Drinkzilla and Abby’s Cakes & Moore will be on-site selling specialty beverages, refreshments and desserts throughout the event.
The program is open to residents of all ages.
