Sheriff’s Investigating a Homicide That Occurred in Running Springs

RUNNING SPRINGS:( On Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 12:14 a.m. dispatch received a 911 call from a residence on the 2500 block of Secret Drive in Running Springs advising there were subjects outside attempting to break in.

While enroute to the residence, deputies received additional information that a shooting occurred at the home.

Upon arrival, CHP officers and deputies found two male subjects shot at the location. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was transported to a local hospital.

Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Detail responded to the location to conduct the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing and several subjects are being interviewed. No arrests have been made at this time. The complete investigation will be submitted to the District Attorney for review.

The hospitalized victim, 32-year-old James Dye, a resident of Running Springs suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder area and is expected to survive.

The name of the deceased male is currently being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
