Apple Valley, CA – December 19, 2013: Today, more than ever, it is vital for businesses to be more efficient with fewer employees. Fortunately for the Town of Apple Valley, employee Roberta McComas is on the job, wearing hats in two different departments. Her versatility and strong work ethic has earned her the designation as the Town’s 2013 Employee of the Year.
McComas has been employed with the Town since 2008. She is better known to her co-workers as “the money woman” as she is responsible for processing payroll for all town staff.
“Roberta can always be counted upon to go out of her way to assist staff members with requests, even when the request is outside of her scope of employment,” said Assistant Town Manager Marc Puckett.
In addition to her duties in the Finance Department, Roberta works very closely with Human Resources staff to provide support for benefit changes or other Human Resources issues whenever needed without hesitation.
“She is filling a new position that will create efficiencies between Human Resources and Finance for payroll and benefits processing,” said Puckett. “Roberta has demonstrated that she can excel in this new capacity with the added responsibilities. This change has only been possible due to Roberta’s accurate and efficient work methods.”
McComas was honored at the Town’s annual Employee Recognition ceremony earlier this month.
